Curated objects and interior concepts for spaces that feel evolved rather than decorated. Maison Benz combines handcrafted one-off pieces, carefully selected materials and a restrained design language made to endure.
People. Brands. Products.
Goldcare develops and stewards its own brands, products and works for the long term. Since 2006, it has remained owner-managed, without a predefined exit horizon. Not growth at any cost, but quality, independence and lasting value.
Premium begins with a deliberate choice.
Goldcare develops only what it understands through its own experience, expertise and conviction — and what it is prepared to take responsibility for. Premium is not a price category, but the combination of quality, design integrity and long-term stewardship.
Building
A brand does not begin with communication, but with a viable product, precise positioning and a clear customer benefit. Goldcare aligns the business model, design and market launch from the outset.
Stewardship
Brand value is created over years. Goldcare therefore works without short-term exit logic and without the compulsion to maximize reach or volume for its own sake. Decisions are allowed to be right in the long run, even if they appear less spectacular in the short term.
Responsibility
Every brand bears a distinct authorial signature. Its quality, origin and promises must remain transparent and credible. Technology serves the product and the people who use it — never the other way round.
Independent ventures under one roof.
The founder’s personal brand brings together entrepreneurial advisory work, academic research and published work. Its central themes are viable business models, independent living and the design of institutional change.
A literary work about sepsis, amputation, institutional authority over meaning, and the struggle to reclaim one’s own voice. The novel combines autobiographical experience with critique, counterargument and deliberate formal resistance.
Audio components and cables for uncompromising music reproduction. Swiss engineering, carefully selected materials and meticulous hand assembly combine technical precision with a distinctive design language.
One holding. Four ventures. One shared approach.
Goldcare provides the legal, strategic and financial framework. Each brand is positioned, developed and managed independently. They address different markets, yet rest on the same principles: quality, longevity, clarity and personal responsibility.
The Holding
Goldcare brings together ownership, strategy, financing and brand stewardship. It provides the long-term framework in which projects can develop without pressure to pursue short-term returns.
The Brands
Each brand has its own purpose, audience, language and design identity. What unites them is not a standardised business model, but a shared and exacting standard of quality.
The Shared Foundation
Business model development, product conception, design, technology and brand management are not treated separately. They interlock from the first idea to the market presence.
Four capabilities that shape every venture.
The methodological foundation is Business Engineering as developed at the University of St. Gallen: companies, products, processes and technologies are designed not in isolation, but as one coherent system.
Business Models and Technology
Development of viable business models and the digital structures they require. Technology is deployed deliberately — where it improves quality, efficiency or customer value.
Product Development
From the first idea through specification and partner selection to market readiness. Products are understood as a long-term commitment, not a one-off launch.
Design
Product, brand, communication and space should all express the same underlying philosophy. Design is therefore not packaging applied after the fact, but part of the entrepreneurial decision.
Brand Management
Positioning, naming, brand architecture, communication and market launch are managed as one coherent task. The goal: distinctive brands whose promises still hold after many years.

Entrepreneurially led. Personally accountable.
Dr. Alain Benz
Dr. Alain Benz, born in 1980, founded Goldcare in 2006. He develops the brands, is accountable for their strategic direction, and brings entrepreneurial, academic and design work together under one roof.
He holds a doctorate in economics (Dr. oec. HSG) from the Institute of Information Management at the University of St. Gallen, supervised by Prof. Dr. Hubert Österle, on the design of business models. He has more than fifteen years of executive leadership experience in the Swiss real estate and services sectors — most recently as Managing Director of Allgemeine Baugenossenschaft Zürich, previously as CEO of bonacasa AG.
At the end of 2024 he survived severe pneumococcal sepsis with a three-week coma and four amputations. After a long rehabilitation, he resumed his entrepreneurial and literary work. The experience fundamentally changed his understanding of time, vulnerability, quality and personal responsibility.
His personal work in consulting, academia and literature is documented at drbenz.ch.
